Discipline Policy

Toddler (18mths - 36 mths)
If the toddlers are arguing over toys, I will first separate them and discuss.
I will then re-direct them to another toy or activity and teach them the importance of sharing.
If the behavior becomes disruptive, I will take your child aside and stay with him/her until he/she is calm.
All parents will be notified of any disruptive or violent behavior. Only myself, the provider or substitute will be allowed to discipline your child.

Pre-school (3 years - K)
If your child argues over toys, I, the child care provider, will access the root of the problem and will try to teach them the importance of sharing and getting along.  If this does not work, I will separate both children and re-direct them to another toy, game or activity.  If a child's behavior continues to be disruptive, I will separate them again and stay with the child until he/she calms down.  All parents will be notified of any disruptive or violent behavior.  Only I, the provider or substitute will be allowed to discipline your children.

School -Age (K - 12 years)
If children are arguing over toys, games, activities, food ect., I will first speak to the children in a firm non-menace tone and try to come up with a solution that everyone agrees on.  I will play and participate on activities that exercise their communicative and interpersonal skills.  If this fails, I will separate the child/children and will stay with him/her until he/she calms down. All parents will be notified of the child's behavior.  Only I, the provider or substitute will be allowed to discipline your children.
